The article aims to analyze the progress of evolution cinnamic acid derivatives through a bibliographic review, describing main synthetic routes in obtaining this class, as well remarkable biological applications and application structure-activity relationship (SAR) strategy for design pharmacologically active molecules. methodology used consists reading analyzing articles, whose approach is descriptive, with data being collected regarding therapeutic potential its structural scaffolding, most widely approaches. As result, it was observed that from natural sources can be synthesized appreciable quantities varied routes, candidates agents, since they have several against diabetes, infectious degenerative diseases, among others, addition presenting activity such pest control, which has attracted attention academic industrial researchers. These compounds are highly versatile their intrinsically associated mode interaction between structure molecular target.
